Fun at The Firs Care Home This Christmas
Excitement is building at The Firs with residents and staff looking forward to celebrating Christmas together as a family.
Our home has been filled with laughter, festive decorations, and plenty of Christmas jumpers. Residents have been getting into the spirit by wearing their favourite festive knits, sparking smiles and conversations throughout the home.
These simple moments help create a sense of togetherness and joy, reminding everyone that Christmas is about community, comfort, and shared experiences.

Festive Activities at The Firs in the Lead-Up to Christmas
As well as sporting their festive bests, residents have been enjoying the popular activity of reindeer ring toss. This light-hearted game encourages friendly competition while keeping everyone active and involved, with plenty of laughter along the way!
These activities are about more than just entertainment; they help residents stay socially connected, boost wellbeing, and enjoy the excitement of the festive season. Staff are always on hand to support and encourage participation, so that everyone can join in as much or as little as they wish.

Looking Ahead to Christmas Day
While the lead-up to Christmas has been full of festive fun, residents are also looking forward to a delicious Christmas day celebration. Our kitchen team has planned a traditional Christmas menu that will offer all the flavours and comforts of a classic festive feast.
For the main meal, residents will be served tender turkey alongside creamy mash and roast potatoes. Seasonal vegetables, including Brussels sprouts, carrots, and parsnips, will complete the plate, accompanied by fluffy Yorkshire puddings and cranberry sauce. This carefully prepared meal is designed to feel familiar, comforting, and truly special.
Dessert will offer a choice of traditional favourites. Residents can enjoy a rich Christmas pudding served with brandy cream or custard, or opt for a light and fruity trifle; a perfect way to finish the main celebration meal!
H3 Evening Dining and Festive Refreshments
Later in the day, a lighter Christmas dinner will be available for residents to enjoy at their leisure. This will include a cheese board served with fresh fruits and nuts, followed by a slice of traditional Christmas cake.
A selection of festive refreshments will also be available throughout the day, including red wine, white wine, Guinness, beer, and shandy, all served responsibly and in a relaxed, social setting. These thoughtful touches help create a calm and enjoyable Christmas atmosphere for everyone.
Celebrating Together at The Firs
At The Firs care home, Christmas is about making sure every resident feels comfortable, included, and cared for. Whether it’s joining in with festive games, enjoying good food, or simply spending time with others, the season offers many opportunities to create meaningful moments.
As Christmas day approaches, we look forward to celebrating together and continuing to make this festive period a happy and memorable one for all.
