December at The Firs is always a magical time, and this year is no exception. Our calendar is packed with festive fun, creative activities, delicious treats, and plenty of opportunities to come together as a community. Here’s a look at what’s happening throughout the month as we celebrate Christmas 2025 in true Firs style.
A Festive Start to December
We began the month with a special celebration on December 1st for Janice’s Birthday, setting a cheerful tone for the weeks ahead. The next day, everyone got together for a hearty Xmas Meal at the Bull’s Head, followed by our Residents’ Meeting on the 3rd, which is a perfect blend of festivities and togetherness.
A musical treat arrived on the 4th, when our much-loved volunteer, Graham, joined us for an afternoon of music, leading into a creative Xmas card-making session on the 5th.
The first weekend brought a lively festive quiz and a relaxing colouring session.
Mid-Month Merriment
The second week of December is filled with visits, movement, and celebration. We welcomed children from Breaston Preschool on the 8th, enjoyed chair-based exercises on the 9th, and will head back to the Bull’s Head for another festive meal on the 10th.
Thursday the 11th is Xmas Jumper Day, which is always a colourful sight around The Firs! On Phyllis’ Birthday (the 12th), we celebrate with warmth and good company before the weekend brings a cosy movie afternoon featuring The Grinch on Saturday, followed by Xmas baking on Sunday.
Crafts, Music & Celebration
As Christmas draws nearer, the fun continues. Our residents will find a hot chocolate station to warm everyone up on the 15th, and more chair-based exercises will keep us moving on the 16th. Mid-week brings Xmas bingo (a favourite amongst residents), and more music with Graham on the 18th.
On Friday the 19th, we will come together for our Xmas party—one of the highlights of the season. The weekend includes a cosy winter wordsearch and a festive Xmas wreath craft session.
Christmas Week at The Firs
The final stretch of the month is full of heartwarming traditions. We hold our Christmas Church service on the 22nd, followed by a spirited game of pass the parcel on the 23rd.
Christmas Eve brings a delightful cheese board, the perfect prelude to our Christmas day celebrations.
We continue the festivities with Boxing Day, a Winter scent game on the 27th, and a cheerful snowflake target toss on the 28th!
Closing Out the Year
As we wind down from Christmas, we enjoy puzzles on the 29th, a playful snowball toss on the 30th, and finally say goodbye to 2025 with a special New Year’s Eve gathering on the 31st.
