From Derby by bus
The indigo bus, run by trentbarton, links Derby with Breaston directly. Starting from Derby Bus Station, it calls at Chaddesden Lane End, Spondon Lane End, Borrowash and Draycott before reaching the Breaston Church stop beside St Michael's Church, then carries on towards Long Eaton and Nottingham. Timetables change, so check the trentbarton website before you travel, and ring us for walking directions from the church to Stevens Lane.

If your parent lives in Derby and needs help with the cost of care, Derby City Council carries out the care needs assessment and the financial assessment, even though The Firs is in Erewash. Living in the city does not limit your parent to homes inside it, and The Firs accepts Derby City Council funding, with or without a family top-up.
Derbyshire County Council covers Breaston and the rest of Erewash, so a parent who already lives outside the city boundary would be assessed by the county instead. Coming to The Firs from Royal Derby Hospital
For many Derby families, the search for a home starts on a ward at Royal Derby Hospital on Uttoxeter Road, run by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The Firs is about 10 miles from the hospital. If the ward team is talking about discharge to a care home, you can tell them you would like The Firs considered, then ring us so that we can check room availability and talk through your parent's needs. We have no formal arrangement with the hospital, but rooms are sometimes available at short notice.
